What’s The Catch – August

Welcome back to ‘What’s The Catch?’ – Our monthly blog where we tell you what fish are in season down here on the South Coast of Sussex. You can eat more sustainably by eating fish that is currently in season – by doing so you’re not only saving fish stocks, but you’re getting the freshest fish you could possibly get, straight to your door!

Lobster

Lobster has a sweet flavour and succulent flesh, perfect if you’re wanting to celebrate something special, and is still in our selection of seasonal favourites!

 

Turbot

Widely considered to be one of the most highly prized fish in the sea and caught along the Sussex coastline by our inshore day boat fleet, turbot has a delicious subtle flavour with vibrant and firm flesh.

 

Clams

Our outstanding quality palourde clams, harvested along the Dorset shoreline and cleaned and purified in natural seawater. These are delicious cooked in a number of ways and are full of vitamins and minerals.

Mackerel


Mackerel is a delightful, oily fish packed full of Omega-3, B-Vitamins and Vitamin D. It fantastic for BBQ-ing has a strong fish flavour, the right balance of sweet and salty.  

 

Plaice

Our plaice is caught by our fleet of local inshore fishing boats along the Sussex Coast. It is one of the most plentiful and sustainable fish in the English channel, and is highly versatile (can be fried, grilled, baked or steamed).
