Whiting is a delicate, flaky fish which is a European staple in fish and chips. Why not give this recipe a try for a European twist on a British classic…
Ingredients
- 4 Whiting fillets
- Salt & pepper
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Fish batter
Method
Step one
Start by seasoning your fish with salt and pepper. Prepare the fish batter as per the instructions on the packaging.
Step two
Heat enough oil in a pan to completely cover your fillets. Coat your fish in the batter and add to the oil once it’s at the right temperature (177-190 degrees Celsius). Cook your fish for 5-7 minutes, depending on how crispy you like it.
Step three
Once fried, remove from the oil and place on a plate lined with paper towels to let the oil drain. Serve with chunky oven chips and tartar sauce.
